Engineering Manager

Summary

As Engineering Manager at Eurostair Group, you will lead and coordinate multidisciplinary engineering activities across product development, structural analysis, manufacturing, and technical compliance. You are responsible for defining and executing the technical strategy, optimizing designs, and ensuring that our engineering organization delivers robust, compliant, and cost-effective solutions at scale.

You will play a key role in setting up and running a modern construction and engineering department, using contemporary tools and processes tailored to the EU market. Working closely with sales, production, and management teams, you ensure seamless cross-functional collaboration from concept to delivery.

The position requires regular travel across the EU, mainly to support our production operations, sales teams, and key customer projects. Annual travel is expected to be around 80 days.

You will report directly to the Management Board.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Strategy

  • Define engineering vision and technical roadmap, aligned with company strategy.
  • Set engineering standards, design principles, and best practices.
  • Drive continuous improvement in structural design processes, tooling, and QA.

Project & Team Management

  • Lead a team of engineers (structural, mechanical, product design), CAD technicians, and analysts.
  • Standardization - develop general preferred solution from our production.
  • Allocate resources, manage workload, and support career development.
  • Coordinate project scheduling across departments and external partners.

Structural & Product Design Oversight

  • Review and approve designs for steel and prefabricated structures (spiral stairs, platforms, railings, etc.).
  • Simplify production templates for stringers & platforms according to Eurocodes and country appendix.
  • Understand and perform structural calculations for spiral and basic staircases.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant norms, EN-1090, EADs, national annexes (e.g., Germany NA), Eurocodes.
  • Oversee load case verification (live loads, wind loads, snow loads, dynamics in multi-floor scenarios), connections, anchor bolt groups, and fabrication detailing.

Compliance & Quality Assurance

  • Implement and monitor processes to satisfy CE marking, factory production control, and certification requirements.
  • Coordinate internal QA, testing, and external inspection agencies.
  • Maintain documentation and traceability for structural safety and regulatory audits.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with R&D, production, sales, procurement, and project delivery teams.
  • Support technical sales with bid reviews, feasibility studies, and client presentations.
  • Engage with suppliers on material specs and manufacturing capabilities.

Innovation & Cost Optimization

  • Promote design for manufacturability and assembly (DFMA).
  • Evaluate new high strength materials, fabrication methods, and automation opportunities.
  • Education of constructors and sales team.
  • Balance performance, cost, safety, and delivery timelines in technical decisions.

Requirements

Core Skills & Expertise

  • Structural engineering of steel constructions (Eurocodes, EN standards, national appendix)
  • Experience with geometrical and material non-linear calculations, understanding of stability analyses and structural dynamics.
  • Ability to teach and coach structural engineers
  • Project leadership & cross-discipline coordination
  • CAD/CAE tools (e.g., Inventor, SolidWorks, FEA tools)
  • Design compliance and regulatory assurance
  • Technical communication with internal teams and external clients
  • Risk management & design verification

Qualifications:

  • Educated as building or mechanical engineer
  • Experience as structural engineer with at least 10 years of seniority
  • Experience in a management or leadership position
  • Solid understanding of mechanics
  • Experience with FEM data load analysis
